StampMind #47 · Oct 31, 2026

Queen Isabella II decreed in October 1849 that Spain would adopt postage stamps, and the first five values, from 6 cuartos up to 10 reales, went on sale on 1 January 1850. All of them carried her portrait, printed by lithography and issued without perforations on unwatermarked paper. They lasted only a year before a new set with a fresh portrait replaced them.
